Champlin | EOP Announces New CEO and President, Honors Leadership Transition

This leadership transition reflects both continuity and forward momentum as Champlin | EOP builds on decades of design excellence and strategic growth.

As CEO, Jason East will focus on long-term vision, strategic growth, culture, and strengthening the firm’s impact across the communities it serves. Sean Bright will oversee day-to-day operations, project delivery, and studio leadership, continuing his steady commitment to design quality, collaboration, and a people-first culture.

“Champlin | EOP has always been grounded in strong relationships, thoughtful design, and a deep commitment to our clients and communities,” said East and Bright in a joint statement. “We are honored to step into these roles and to build on the firm’s strong foundation while positioning it for a resilient and innovative future.”

After 33 years with the firm, including the past 12 years serving as President and CEO, Ben Richards will transition into the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors. Under Richards’ leadership, Champlin | EOP expanded from one office and 50 employees to seven offices and nearly 160 team members, significantly broadening its geographic reach, portfolio, and reputation for design excellence.

“Ben’s leadership has shaped who we are,” said East and Bright. “His vision, steadiness, and belief in people created the platform for our continued growth. We are grateful for his guidance and pleased that he will continue to support the firm in his role as Chairman.”

As Chairman, Richards will provide governance oversight and long-term strategic counsel while the executive leadership team guides daily operations. Additional Board of Director Officers include: Michael Murphy-Secretary, Krutarth Jain-Treasurer; Chris Estes, David Glover, Kevin Gough, and Melissa Lutz, Executive Vice Presidents.

This transition underscores Champlin | EOP’s commitment to thoughtful succession planning and sustained growth. With a strengthened leadership structure and a clear strategic direction, the firm remains focused on delivering meaningful design solutions for healthcare, education, civic, workplace, cultural and community, worship, hospitality, and living clients across the region and beyond.
