Good Samaritan Western Ridge is designed to deliver quality healthcare to Cincinnati's West Side.

TriHealth identified expansion into the western part of Hamilton County as a way to deliver Good Samaritan-quality service to that suburban area. Champlin Architecture provided design services for a medical office building high atop a ridge, prominently visible from an expressway, to support that goal. The 48,000 sf, two story structure is the first in a series of buildings on a multi-parcel joint Duke Construction/Good Samaritan Hospital development envisioned to be a concentration of healthcare services. Ground level includes a stand-alone emergency department, lab, and imaging center. Shell space adjacent to the diagnostic center was carefully designed and coordinated to permit easy installation of an MRI scanner at a later date. Upper level is leased to physicians who will benefit from the close proximity to ambulatory services within the building.

Image and aesthetic establishes consistency with the Good Sam brand

The building is designed to be an extension of the Good Samaritan image and aesthetic through careful selection of interior and exterior materials and colors. Wall system is tilt-up concrete wall panels with a color acrylic coating, which offers durability, speed and ease of erection at an attractive price point. Fiberglass column covers and a projecting cornice add a level of articulation, which, along with the look of brick at stairwell walls, correlates with other Good Samaritan Hospital buildings. Dual canopies allow the emergency department to operate continuously and independently from the imaging center and physician offices. Site design also included coordination with regulatory authorities for installation of a helipad.

Interior fit-out of the ground level was refined from the hospital’s design standards to emulate trends in private practice, with treatment alcoves and open nurse stations. Champlin completed tenant fit-out of the upper floor — which includes medical office suites for family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, and a timeshare.
